The Hope Project is a band– a creative collective led by Andile Masuku (Creator/Executive Producer/Musician). Inspired by a stirring collection of original musical compositions penned and performed by Andile over the last seven years. The Hope Project was birthed to bring to production ideas he had swirling about in his head– ideas that give God-centred perspective to life for people living on a damaged planet.
Since The Hope Project aka The Collective’s inaugural critically-acclaimed, self-titled live musical theatre production hosted in July 2009 at the University of Johannesburg’s Sanlam Auditorium, a second production- Rise, has been staged in collaboration with Currents of Blackness at the the University of Johannesburg’s Con Cowan Theatre in September 2011.
More recently, The Collective has released a short length recording- EP Volume 1: Rise. The album includes production by Chadwin Alexander and RJ Benjamin and features inspired musical performances by leading contemporary performers. Featured are original songs from and inspired by The Collective’s live events, spanning the genres of contemporary gospel, soul, RnB, and pop-rock.
Currently, The Collective is busy promoting the release of the Rise EP, performing live on a regular basis, engaging in on-going development of future live and studio projects and is poised for involvement in other exciting media prospects.
